How eBay calculates the fees
- Take the total amount: item price plus the shipping the buyer pays, both including VAT.
- Apply the category rate. In tiered categories it applies up to the limit (usually €990), and 3% on the portion above.
- Add the fixed fee: €0.35 per order, €0.45 for orders over €10.
- Subtract discounts: platinum shops get 10% off the whole final value fee.
- 19% VAT on the fees: eBay charges it to all users based in Germany. VAT-registered sellers deduct it as input tax.

- Higher fees for sellers with Below Standard status or many "not as described" returns.
- Sneakers: eBay names a €100 threshold but does not say clearly whether it refers to the item price or the total amount. Please check manually.
- International fee depending on the delivery country, and currency conversion fees.
- Advertising costs and listing upgrades such as subtitle or Gallery Plus.
- Growth discounts for platinum shops.
- Vehicles, boats, aircraft and NFTs, which have their own fee rules.
- Insertion fees beyond the shop allowance and the monthly shop subscription fee.
- Rounding: we round every amount to the cent. Your eBay invoice may differ by one cent.
Frequently asked questions
How high are eBay.de fees for business sellers in 2026?
The final value fee depends on the category, for example 7% for electronic devices, 12% for accessories and clothing, 14% in the standard categories and up to 16% for jewellery. Used and refurbished items are charged 5% in many categories. On top come €0.35 or €0.45 per order.
Does eBay charge the fee on shipping too?
Yes. The basis is the total amount of the transaction: item price, shipping paid by the buyer, VAT and any other charges.
Do I pay VAT on eBay fees?
eBay lists its fees net and charges German VAT on them to all users based in Germany. VAT-registered businesses can deduct it as input tax, small businesses cannot.
